Projects - Pulpit Seats

Big Project.

It all started with a sketch on the back of a notebook.......

I next made a prototype out of PVC. This was 1) to make sure I wasn't crazy, and 2) to give to the stainless steel guy to make sure he did it right. All I needed was one weld and three bends.

I purposely made the ends of the tube lengths a bit long so that I could cut them off to the right size at the last minute.

I use the really flat rail clamps so that there wouldn't be anything sticking up from the top of the pulpit rails. Also some SS tube ends so that 1) they could be adjusted easily during installation, and 2) so that The whold thing could be removed if needed..

I used small pieces of 3/4" starboard for the seats. I routed the edges curved.

.....

The advantage of this seat arrangement is that the "user" can either sit facing aft and have a nice curved backrest, or sit facing forward and be out over the water!
