Projects - Sunshade

The admiral comes through again!

This one is a big help in the North Carolina sun. It stores nicely and is VERY quick to setup or take down.

We measured carefully and made a flat 4-sided piece from Sunbrella.

There are ties at the two triangular corners and two D-rings sewn with tabs along the folding seams. The D-ring ties get tied around the backstays.

The bottom center edge has a thick seam into which we slid in a 1/4" by 2" piece of vinyl "something-or-other" from Home Depot. This semi-rigid piece has two functions. First, it keeps things fairly stable and not too floppy. Second, it is a necessity to have when one person is trying to roll it up.

We put a couple of velcro strips to hold the triangle piece against the flat part when it is time to roll it up. Here are the flaps folded and velcro-ed in place prior to rolling it up.

Here is the sunshade rolled all the way up. I used two little hooks and some bungee to hold it up to the top of the dodger.
