Something
else that I guess is pretty much "standard fare" for
Geminis.....
I intstallled two vents, intake mode
in the master cabin and exhaust mode in the head. My
rationale for putting them in the hatches was that the hatches
were too weak for standing on, and the vents just gave me more
incentive not to accidentally step there!
I
cut the holes with a "spiral cutter" attachment for
my Dremel tool (by far my MOST used power tool on the boat). The
"spiral cutter" comes with a collar that lets it work
kind of like a plunge router. It is great for cutting any kind
of thin material, lexan, plexiglas, fiberglass, etc.
Instead
of drilling MORE holes in the hatch to screw down the vents, I
did the unthinkable.....
I put them in with black 5200, and
a lot of it. I figured that if I needed to replace anything associated
with the vents it would be the NiCads or the motor or something,
not the plastic housing. I
have read all of the chatter about 5200 and it reacting with polymers,
lexan, etc. guess I'll just wait and see. I
do have to do something about dressing up the bottom, though.

UPDATE *******
18 months now and no indications that the 5200 is doing anything
to the hatches!
