I
read with interest about the heat that can come in through the
windshields during the summer months. I also read about the
windshield covers that everyone else had made. Me
too!
I took out every third (or fourth)
screw from the windshield (uuuhhhh?), and replaced it with the
closest sized one I could find that included a snap stud. Much
black silicone went back into the hold after screwing each one
in.....
Then
the admiral went about making the appropriately sized pieces
of sunbrella.
Yes,
we used black to match everything else - we may change our minds
later.
Here are
the two covers installed.
Now
here comes the twist...
I
read that everyone was saying that the sunbrella covers rub
on the lexan windows and scratches them up (hmmmm...)
I
cut off some 2 inch cylinders from my son's "fun tubes"
and glued them into the inside (more 5200) of the covers to
hold them off of the windows. I
put three on each cover one in the center, and two outer ones.
Maybe this will also help with the heat damage?
